"When I look back on New Horizon, I remember the feeling of having a family away from home. The teachers were wholeheartedly invested in the students and consistently tried to and succeeded in making learning an enjoyable, interactive experience. They understood that there was more to learning than doing drills at your desk; what we learned in the classroom was coupled with field trips and projects that kept students motivated and interested in the material. The administration also put a significant amount of effort into arranging for entertaining school-wide events such as sports events and carnivals and were always in search of and open to innovative ideas. New Horizon also afforded me exposure to a multicultural environment, which helped me become a stronger, more versatile person. I am grateful for the opportunities I had at the school as my time there gave me a solid foundation in a myriad of areas to build on and work with in later years.

"Growing up in the environment that New Horizon provided enabled me to blend my religion with my region. I'm not just Muslim, I'm an American Muslim. Even though I attend Loyola Marymount University, a Jesuit-Christian school, I can still hold strong onto my religion. And when I tell people that I still practice my religion - I take time off from work and school to do my daily prayers - that's becuase of the solid foundation that I had growing up. New Horizon and its culture - growing and learning with a strong group of lifelong friends and fellow students - established a sense of community and a feeling of home. To this day, some of my fondest childhood memories are of New Horizon, and when I bump into the Alumni at different social events or just by chance, or when I see a teacher at a wedding, that feeling of being a kid agian and performing the Hajj Reenactments or Mrs. Antabli teaching un in Second Grade, are all suddenly brough back. We reminisce with great joy on those precious moments we shared at New Horizon Westside."
