Our School

New Horizon School Westside is committed to providing its students with a quality religious and academic education based on high moral values in an Islamic environment. An integral part of the New Horizon School System, founded in 1984, we are dedicated to providing quality academic education based on high, universal moral values in a progressive Islamic environment. We are committed to nurturing a positive American Muslim identity and a devotion to God through the teachings of the Qur’an (the holy book of Islam) and a strong commitment to family, community and humanity.

Our Goals

New Horizon School Westside aims to prepare its students to effectively deal with the challenges of a modern society. We seek to equip each child spiritually, intellectually and physically to succeed in today’s world. New Horizon students are taught to integrate Qur’anic principles, academic skills and ethical behavior in order to make a positive contribution to the global community. It is our goal to develop in each student a balanced character enriched with knowledge, inspired to excellence, and committed to the betterment of humanity. Toward this end, we offer students all the core academic subjects as well as instruction in Arabic, Qur’anic and Islamic Studies, Physical Education, Computers, Library, Music and Art.

Our Approach

Our school’s philosophy is based on the “Developmental Approach” and “Traditional Skill Based Program,” which is teaching skills appropriate to the developmental age of each child. We believe that learning such skills is best accomplished in an active learning program that involves experimentation, exploration, and discovery. We also believe that academic excellence is best achieved through critical thinking, problem solving, discussion and communication skills. Growth in social skills through positive peer and adult interaction, with emphasis on Islamic values, will help our children develop a positive self-image and an Islamic identity.
